Orchestra and choir for every ear

CHOIR – ORCHESTRA – NETWORK IN GERMANY

At the moment we are in an exciting phase: we are forming a symphony orchestra and a choir.

The string instruments violin, viola, cello, double bass and the first four wind instruments French horn, trumpet, clarinet and saxophone (in preparation for bassoon) are already in use. Next, we wish to find players for all other wind and percussion instruments.

What is C.O.N.SONANZA?

C.O.N. SONANZA e.V. is a cultural and social project for children and teenagers. The non-profit association was founded in Munich in 2017 and follows the approach of the internationally renowned, Venezuelan music education program El Sistema.

Among the project initiators and teachers of C.O.N. SONANZA we have founding members of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra as well as musicians and music educators from other orchestras of El Sistema, German orchestras and music academies.

We offer excellent musical education for children and teenagers with and without music skills, everything free of charge.

Through regular and joint learning and practice in the orchestra or choir, the musical abilities of the participants are steadily developed.

Fun is the essential factor and thus the motivation of the young participants is given from the beginning.

El Sistema

In 1975, Dr. José Antonio Abreu founded a youth orchestra in Caracas, Venezuela.
After that he organized another 440 “núcleos”, systematic organized learning groups, with over 1 million young musicians, learning and playing in around 1,300 orchestras and choirs nationwide.
This network, called El Sistema, brought to life the renowned Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, which, with its conductor Gustavo Dudamel (currently with Los Angeles Philharmonic and Opéra national de Paris), is known and successful worldwide.

There are now similar projects, based on El Sistema’s approach, in over 70 countries all over the world.

C.O.N. SONANZA represents this approach in Germany and is the only “El Sistema” oriented project in Bavaria.

Das Konzept

Der Ablauf

01
First steps

Prospective students can contact us per email and will be given the opportunity to view classes and meet the teachers and different instruments. Together with our team, the children or teenagers can decide which instrument they like best and if it is appropriate for them. Also children who already have musical knowledge or have their own instrument are welcome in our orchestra.

03
Music education

Our highly qualified team of teachers use different methods to teach through curiosity and joy. All kids, with or without previous musical knowledge, will learn and practice their instrument in the group. Through regular practice, they gradually learn note reading and technique. The training is based on a concept of musical pedagogy from El Sistema. It was developed in the last 40 years and focuses on keeping children’s motivation high.

02
Selection of the appropriate instrument and registration

If there is interest in regular and long-term participation in C.O.N. SONANZA, the new orchestra member can borrow an instrument for free, to be able to practice at home.
If the desired spot in the orchestra (or choir) and the respective instrument are vacant, the registration will take place right away. If not, the student will be added to our waiting list.

04
Implementation

The lessons take place once a week during 30-60 minutes (depending on kid’s age) as individual or group lessons. The timetable is coordinated individually. In addition, there are occasional orchestra rehearsals, usually on Saturday mornings.

05
Special events

We also offer participants the opportunity to attend rehearsals and concerts of professional orchestras and conductors, as well as participate in interesting workshops and excursions.
